In just five seasons at the helm, University of Vermont men’s basketball head coach John Becker has emerged as a rising star in college basketball. His resume with the Catamounts is impressive – four straight 20-win seasons, four straight postseason appearances, an America East Championship, an America East Regular Season crown and an NCAA Tournament win.

One of 12 active coaches to post 20 wins in his first four seasons as a Division I head coach at a single school, Becker was named the 2014 America East Coach of the Year after guiding Vermont to a 15-1 mark in league play and the program's sixth America East Regular Season title during the 2013-14 season. The Cats cruised through the conference slate, winning contests by an NCAA-best 20.9 points per game.

Becker has compiled an 87-49 record at Vermont continuing a tradition of excellence over a decade in the making. His teams pride themselves on defense and rebounding and have ranked #1 in scoring defense each of the last two seasons among America East teams. He owns the most postseason wins in program history and was ranked #15 in a list of the top up-and-coming coaches by Hoop Scoop.

Former Catamount Kyle Cieplicki '08 was named associate head coach for the University of Vermont men’s basketball team in May 2015. Cieplicki moves up after being the team’s director of operations.

Cieplicki came to Vermont after spending two years as an assistant coach at Brown. Cieplicki was the first three-year captain in the 94-year history of the Vermont men's basketball team. He stepped into the starting lineup as a sophomore and started 82 of 89 games over his final three seasons. He helped lead Vermont to the America East Championship game three times, to an appearance in the NCAA Tournament as a freshman and the team's first-ever postseason NIT invite as a junior.

Ryan Schneider

Assistant Coach
University of Vermont

Former Catamount Ryan Schneider was named an assistant coach for the University of Vermont’s men’s basketball team in July 2014.

Schneider came to UVM following one season as an assistant coach at Northfield Mount Hermon where he helped the program win the 2013 Prep School National Championship for the first time in school history.  He also mentored several student-athletes who were headed to Division I program's following their careers at Northfield Mount Hermon. Schneider also spent the 2011-12 season as an assistant coach at Brown

Schneider, a native of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., began his playing career at Vermont.

2014-15 marks Hamlet Tibbs’ first season as an assistant coach at Vermont. He comes to UVM after five seasons at the Albany Academy in Albany, N.Y. and five seasons coaching in the Albany City Rocks program.

While associated with the Albany City Rocks program, Tibbs coached one ESPN Top 100 Player, one USA U18 player and had players invited to the Lebron James Skills Academy and the Ty Lawson & Victor Oladipo All-American Camp

Greg Snyder

Greg Snyder enters his second season as the Director of Basketball Operations.

Before joining UVM Snyder spent two seasons as the head basketball coach at St. Mark’s School in Southborough, Mass. He also served as a coach and director of player development for the New England Playaz AAU program for those 2 seasons.

Snyder began his coaching career after finishing his playing career at his alma mater, SUNY Potsdam. He has also had stints as an assistant coach at Hamilton College (2006-07) and Colgate University (2008-2001).
