In just six seasons at the helm, University of Vermont men’s basketball head coach John Becker has emerged as a rising star in college basketball. His resume with the Catamounts is impressive – six straight 20-win seasons, six straight postseason appearances, two America East Championships, a pair of America East Regular Season crowns and an NCAA Tournament win.

One of 10 active coaches to post 20 wins in his first six seasons as a Division I head coach at a single school, Becker was named the 2014 America East Coach of the Year after guiding Vermont to a 15-1 mark in league play and the program's sixth America East Regular Season title during the 2013-14 season. John won his second America East Coach of the Year in 2017 when the Cats finished 19-0 in league play for the first time in American East history.

Becker has compiled a 157-74 record and ranks third all-time on the program’s career wins list. He is continuing a tradition of excellence over a decade in the making as the Catamounts have posted ten straight 20-win seasons, the most conferences wins among active America East schools, and the second most victories among Division 1 schools in New England.
